A fine script, great screenplay, brilliant acting, amazing camerawork..blah blah...

But one thing that really stood out was the DIRECTION. An absolutely new (atleast for me) concept of story telling. Use of metaphors, parallel stories in different time periods and an excellent climax just makes this movie experience unforgettable. It was fascinating how each protagonist starts portraying two different characters belonging to different eras, but as the movies progresses, slowly, start merging into one. One must see it to believe it!!

P.s. : Roobaroo just took the honors of being My Favorite Song. (atleast one of my favorite)

;-)Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1137937386504450192006-01-22T18:45:00.000+05:302006-01-22T19:13:06.526+05:30Driving Lesson-ISat on the driver's seat after a looong time.......

Yes, I am a 22 year old and i still got drivophobia. And I am just partly to be blamed. For the remainder, I blame

The damn surd who beat me when I banged his car. That was a time when I didnt suffer from the above disease, had just got my license, and I think I was a better driver back then. Lost all my confidence, cos of that incident.

Mumbai roads...Bloody, one has to stop and restart more times than you actually drive.

Clutches!!...I just cant start my car from first gear without its share of jerks and stops....And this happens on open roads....I dread the day when I get stuck in traffic. (Needless to say, the traffic would have been caused due to my great driving neways)...

Went out with dad to resume my driving lessons, suspended 8 months back.... As usual, on the open back-road where I wanted to zoom at 90k, dad kept making stop and restart the car from first gear....And I did just that...stop...start...jerk....stop...start again...jerk...stop.....start once again...drive for 2 min...dad yells stop.....urgghhhhh...(Just when I had successfully picked up the car from first gear w/o any jerk and wanted to speed away...dad had to butt in..)

P.s:.. It has become a blog per month...and the way things are going...heck .... I dont want to predict.....

Last few days have been a bit of a different experience. Changing work environments...read IIT to I-flex. The former was not time bound..was independent work...and above all no restrictions on attire.

Getting into formals every morning is a real pain in the a!@!.... Heck I dont even know how to put on a tie...(Thank God ties only on Mondays..)

First day at I-fex kind of felt like first day in school. Getting up early in the morning...putting on my uniform..yea thats what i call formals.... bunch of unknown faces.... etc etc...
Only difference being being, unlike in school...I did not cry this time ;-)...On the contrary felt like laughing and cracking up big time....hehe

P.s : My brain has just been fed with a wierd concotion of orange juice, Red bull and a bit of beer. So do excuse me if the above sentences are random, stupid or if they dont make sense.

Cheers ;-)Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1128598740184518462005-10-06T17:02:00.000+05:302005-10-06T17:09:00.190+05:30?Is this my blog ?

Why dont I blog regularly anymore ?

Why did I start a blog in the first place?

Whats been up with me, lately?

Is the project taking too much time?

Am I just getting bored and pretending to be ultra busy?

Is it a bit of both?

Whats the difference between interpolation and approximation?

Have I gone insane?

Did I just prove it by performing this excercise?

Is this gonna be the last question?

Whose line is it anyway?

Cheers ;-)Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1125583627782378492005-09-01T18:48:00.000+05:302005-09-06T14:07:16.220+05:30Surface Modeling

The image is the original surface.

The image on the left is the above surface when noise is added. Now the CSRE building where I work is a 3 storey building, with a central hall like room whose roof is dome shaped and is 3 floors high.
I had an hour to kill and was wondering how I could pass my time, when suddenly I see a stone fall beside me. I look up and to my surprise see a family of monkeys desperately trying to find their way out.
So, here we were ,me waiting to go in and they waiting to go out. The next hour passed by with me observing them and they keeping a keen eye on me, either all prepared to attack me or just hoping that I'll be their messiah and let them out.

Kind of reminded me of the story I heard as a child...the one with the Hatseller and the monkeys. It was surreal.Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1119680575763147442005-06-25T11:52:00.000+05:302005-06-25T12:11:30.240+05:30SNORRRRRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Zzzz.......
Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1119680657993648812005-06-25T11:50:00.000+05:302005-06-25T12:10:41.976+05:30Kumkaran ko kisne ditsturb kiya!!
Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1119510633322852292005-06-23T11:54:00.000+05:302005-06-28T09:16:48.306+05:30Segmentation Fault...Core dumped!!!!!!!Once again, my apologies for not being regular with my posts. But the fact is during the last week I have hardly got anytime to spare. Its not because I have been really busy, which I have been, but I have had to commute to IIT everyday which has literally left me just enough time for my sleep.

Life @ IIT is nice. I just absolutely love this place. Most of the day I am by myself, all alone, but still I dont feel lonely. I guess after the JEE debacle this stint at IIT as a JRF (Junior Research Fellow) is my salvation. Hopefully I shall enjoy the entire period just like I have been doing so far. Fingers crossed...Please GOD...dont let any frustration set in!!!

Speaking of frustration, for some one who has used Windows all his life (umm ok not all life..last 3-4 years)..programming in Linux is a pain!!!!!!!!!! And thats why the title of this post... I had been struggling with this fault in my program for the last 3 days..

Anyways, thats all that has been happening!!! Shall update whenever I find time like today... Came onto Windows specially to blog (since n/w settings in linux not properly configured)... Better get back to Linux now ;-)

WINDOWS ROCKS!!!!

P.s: Dont get me wrong I am sure those who say Linux is far superior are right...jus that I dont know how to use it. Ignorance is bliss!!

Food for thought: Linus Torvald made Linux open (free) cos he knew no one would buy it.. heheh ;-)Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1118557373774684582005-06-12T11:34:00.000+05:302005-06-12T11:52:53.776+05:30YawnnnnnExams over!!!!!

Its a wierd feeling... As a result of which I have again landed myself in the 80-20 situation where I have to still cover 80% of syllabus with 20% of the time remaining. ;-(

And as a desperate measure I am now going to employ the ALGEBRAIC MULTIGRID METHOD in my preparation.
To the uninitiated, the AMG technique is used to solve a large (and i mean "LARGE"...jus like my syllabus) set of equations. In this method we represent the entire system of equations in the form of a Grid. This grid is coarsened and different levels are generated, wherein every level has lesser number of nodes than the previous one. We keep coarsening until a stage is reached such that the original system of equations is reduced to a solvable form. Therefore, at the coarsest level, the equations are solved and the results of this level are interpolated to the finer level and we keep interpolating until we reach the finest level. This top-down and subsequent bottom-up (i.e. coarsening and then interpolating) approach helps us to finally come up with the solution for our "large" system of equations.

If some of you fools, are still wondering as to how this nonsense is going to help me with my preparation...well, here goes.... The syllabus is quite large...as a result coarsening needs to be done...first, by cutting down on the no. of pages...then no. of topics .. so on and so forth.....until I reach my coarsest level i.e. the names of indiviual topics.....As for interpolating...I shall first learn the subtitles under the main topics...then some keywords under the subtitles.then some sentences...then some diagrams...and so on....

However, there does lie one difference, unlike the original method where it is absolutely necessary to roll up to the finest level, in my case it is alright to stop midway cos not only do I not have the time but also it is "Mumbai University" yaar...where more than the content i got to concentrate on the length of my answers ;;-))

Hmm...Doesnt it sound smart and full proof....I better get at it right away....

P.s.: If you are reading this it would imply, you have read the article as well, which would further imply that both you and me have nothing better in the world to do than reading (you) or writing (me) such piece of crap ;;-))Harshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9789292.post-1116009291849736152005-05-13T23:35:00.001+05:302008-04-11T00:52:51.588+05:30Alvida!!!Our B.E. Project is over. ;-(((((

I was certain to blog about it and I think Madhav was too. He, however beat me to it (he even posted the pics before he mailed them to me...;-))). I guess rightly so, in the past I have been guilty of posting his pics before he can. ;;-))

Jokes apart, I anyway could not have authored a better article chronicalling our experience at C.A. And therefore for the sake of posterity I am saving the link.

http://roundthewicket.blogspot.com/2005/05/much-more-than-be-project.html

However, what I can do is to post the pics from C.A. Phir after 10 minutes it will leave for churchgate. It will therefore reach churchgate at around 8:30. Tum itna simple calculation nahin kar sakte. The day brought an end to a mad week which was characterised with late nights, crazy vivas (my viva on system security turned out to be on American security with 9/11, FBI, CIA and wot not being discussed ;-), getting upset, tensed, angry and a host of other emotions, etc.

Anyway, the day was also in some way an end of days itself. End of college days, end of viva days, end of submission days, end of project days (gonna miss this one in particular)...hmmm ....sigh ;-(.....

P.s.:- My apologies for being inactive for some time.......

Wishing my Ba.. an healhty and speedy recovery...Get well soon BaHarshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10357726102269755629noreply@blogger.com0
